Tensions between India and Pakistan have once again reached a boiling point. After the successful execution of ‘Operation Sindoor’ by India, Pakistan has reacted aggressively, launching a series of drone, missile, and mortar attacks along the Indian border. However, the swift and robust response from the Indian military and air defense systems has foiled these attempts. At the same time, India has not held back in its retaliatory actions.
First Strike, Then Block, Then Strike Again…
On the night of May 6, the Indian Air Force launched ‘Operation Sindoor’, targeting nine terrorist camps located in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK). The mission aimed to destroy terrorist launchpads and arms stockpiles. The operation took place around 1:30 AM, and in response, Pakistan began launching attacks on Indian positions.
India’s Defense System Foils Pakistani Attacks
Following the airstrike, Pakistan planned a wave of drone and missile attacks on Indian military installations on the nights of May 7 and 8. However, the Indian forces intercepted these attacks using its Integrated Counter-UAS Grid and S-400 Air Defense System, rendering them completely ineffective. In response, India launched a powerful counterattack targeting Pakistan’s air defense systems.
India Strikes Major Pakistani Cities
On the morning of May 8, India conducted airstrikes on Rawalpindi, Lahore, and Karachi. The strikes involved Akash missiles, causing explosions in several areas. Notably, the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium, which was set to host a Pakistan Super League (PSL) match, was also damaged. The attacks triggered panic across Pakistan, especially in border regions.
Pakistan’s Drone Attacks Repelled
On May 8, Pakistan attempted drone and missile strikes in Jammu, Samba, RS Pura, and Arnia. India’s S-400 defense system successfully intercepted all of them. That same evening, a Pakistani drone was shot down near Jammu University, after being detected by Indian surveillance.
Active Indian Military Presence in Border Areas
Late on May 8, Pakistan attempted to fire missiles at the Pathankot Air Force Station, but India’s defense systems neutralized the threat. Additionally, an F-16 fighter jet attempting to enter Indian airspace was shot down by the Indian Air Force.
India’s Stern Response in Border Sectors
That same night, Indian forces responded strongly to Pakistani aggression in Jammu, Rajouri, Poonch, and Tangdhar, deploying IL-17 air defense guns to counter drone and shelling attacks. Indian military operations in these areas were swift and effective.
Pakistan’s Fighter Jets Shot Down
India shot down three Pakistani fighter jets on the night of May 8 — two JF-17s and one F-16. Additionally, an AWACS (Airborne Early Warning and Control System) aircraft attempting to enter Indian airspace was destroyed. These actions were part of India’s high-level air defense operation.
India’s Decisive Action Continues
On the morning of May 9, India launched a drone strike on the Okara Army Cantonment in Pakistan, causing significant damage to Pakistani forces. These ongoing Indian operations have created a state of chaos in Pakistan and have escalated cross-border tensions.
