Cuttack: President Droupadi Murmu graced the convocation ceremony of Ravenshaw University in Cuttack, Odisha, on July 15, 2025. In her address, she recalled the university’s historic role in India’s freedom movement and the formation of Odisha, praising its continued contributions to education and women’s empowerment.
Recognition of Innovation and Inclusion
The President commended the university’s advancements in research and technology. She highlighted its focus on consultancy, innovation, and increasing access for tribal, underprivileged, and differently-abled students. Praising its use of AI and emerging technologies, she urged caution against their misuse.
Call to Nation-Building
Referring to India’s Amrit Kaal, the President called on students to contribute toward the national goal of becoming a developed country by 2047. She emphasized the spirit of “nation first” and encouraged youth to draw inspiration from contributors across fields.
Focus on Girls’ Education
Later, the President laid the foundation stone for redevelopment of three buildings of Ravenshaw Girls’ High School. She stressed the importance of quality infrastructure and acknowledged that girls excel when given equal opportunity. Urging young women to pursue excellence, she celebrated their growing role in all sectors of society.
