Lok Sabha Speaker, Leaders Pay Tribute to Indira Gandhi on Birth Anniversary

New Delhi, November 19, 2024: Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla, along with other dignitaries, paid floral tributes to former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi on her birth anniversary in the Central Hall of Samvidhan Sadan today.

Shri Om Birla was joined by Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, and Leader of Opposition in Rajya Sabha, Mallikarjun Kharge. Members of Parliament, former MPs, and officials, including Secretary General of Lok Sabha Utpal Kumar Singh and Secretary General of Rajya Sabha P.C. Mody, also honored Gandhi’s legacy during the solemn event.

The portrait of  Indira Gandhi, unveiled on November 19, 1987, by then President R. Venkataraman, serves as a tribute to her pivotal contributions to the nation. The ceremony marked a moment of reflection on her enduring impact as India’s first woman Prime Minister.
