India has stepped up its humanitarian efforts by offering around 30 tonnes of medicines to Lebanon, strengthening the already positive relations between the two countries. The Lebanese envoy, while expressing gratitude, highlighted India’s consistent support in the international arena and emphasized the importance of this aid, especially during these challenging times.
The envoy remarked, “India has always been supportive of Lebanon, and this offer of medicines is a testament to the strong bilateral ties we share. It is much needed, and we are grateful for India’s continued assistance.”
However, the focus of the discussion soon shifted to the ongoing conflict in the Middle East. The Lebanese representative voiced serious concerns about the escalating violence and called on the United States to reevaluate its unwavering support for Israel. The envoy urged the U.S. to use its influence to stop Israel’s aggressive actions, which have exacerbated the region’s instability.
He stated, “The United States, as Israel’s most powerful ally, has the leverage and responsibility to put an end to this aggression. Israel is being funded with the latest technology, weapons, and even nuclear capabilities by the U.S., yet they claim they cannot control Prime Minister Netanyahu. The truth is, if the U.S. wants to stop this violence, it can.”
The Lebanese envoy did not shy away from condemning Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, whom he described as a “war criminal.” He pointed out that international legal bodies such as the International Court of Justice (ICJ) and the International Criminal Court (ICC) have credible evidence that Netanyahu has committed war crimes. Despite these accusations, he noted, Netanyahu continues to receive strong backing from the United States.
“Netanyahu is not just a war criminal by emotional or political standards. The ICJ and ICC have issued warrants against him based on credible proof of war crimes. Despite this, he remains the spoiled child of the U.S. administration,” the envoy added.
The envoy’s statements come at a time when the Middle East is grappling with severe humanitarian crises due to ongoing conflicts. The situation in Gaza, in particular, has drawn widespread international attention, with many countries calling for an immediate ceasefire and a return to diplomatic negotiations. The Lebanese envoy reiterated that peace in the region is impossible without a just resolution to the Palestinian issue, and he called on global powers, particularly the U.S., to play a constructive role in bringing about a peaceful solution.
The envoy’s appeal to the U.S. underlined Lebanon’s position that the American government can make a significant difference if it shifts its approach towards Israel. He urged for a more balanced and humanitarian perspective in addressing the conflict, emphasizing that unchecked military aggression would only lead to more destruction and loss of life.
In conclusion, while Lebanon remains grateful for India’s humanitarian aid, it also hopes for broader international action that could ease the suffering in the Middle East. The envoy’s message is clear: humanitarian assistance is vital, but so is political intervention to end violence and foster lasting peace in the region.
