Jerusalem: Israeli airstrikes in southern Gaza killed three senior Hamas militants in a crowded tent camp in Khan Younis, designated as a safe zone. The attack, targeting a tent camp housing displaced Palestinians, left 19 people dead, with more trapped under rubble, Gaza health officials reported.
The Israeli military confirmed the “precise strike” aimed at a command and control center embedded in the humanitarian zone, killing:
1. Samer Ismail Khadr Abu Daqqa – Head of Hamas’s aerial unit.
2. Osama Tabesh – Head of military intelligence’s observation and targets department.
3. Ayman Mabhouh – Senior Hamas figure.
The three were allegedly involved in the October 7, 2023, attack on southern Israel and planning further attacks.
Later, Israeli forces struck the Al-Farouq Mosque in the Bureij refugee camp, targeting another Hamas command center. Palestinian authorities reported casualties in the strike.
