Delhi Chief Minister Atishi has accused the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of engaging in “hooliganism” while alleging that the Election Commission (EC) and Delhi Police are shielding BJP workers and unfairly targeting Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leaders.

Atishi, who is contesting from the Kalkaji constituency, made these allegations during a press conference, claiming that democracy in India is now at the mercy of Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar. She asserted that the entire nation is watching whether democracy will prevail in Delhi.

Accusations Against BJP’s Ramesh Bidhuri

The CM specifically accused BJP candidate Ramesh Bidhuri and his family of orchestrating violence in Kalkaji, alleging that no action has been taken against them. She contrasted BJP’s approach with AAP’s, stating, “On one side, there is a party that wants to stop free welfare schemes and is inciting violence, while on the other, AAP is working to ensure that every household saves ₹25,000 per month.”

FIR Against Atishi Amid Election Controversy

Hours after her remarks, Delhi Police registered an FIR against Atishi for allegedly violating the Model Code of Conduct (MCC) and obstructing a public servant. Officials reported that she and a group of supporters, along with 10 vehicles, were blocking Fateh Singh Marg. When asked to vacate the area, she allegedly interfered with police operations.

Authorities also claimed that an AAP worker slapped a head constable during the altercation.

Atishi Hits Back at EC’s Alleged Bias

Following the FIR, Atishi took to social media platform X, accusing the Election Commission of being partisan. She questioned why no action was taken against Bidhuri despite multiple complaints, while she faced immediate legal consequences.

With Delhi Assembly elections scheduled for February 5 and results to be declared on February 8, the political landscape remains charged as both parties continue to exchange accusations.
