Gandhinagar: The Gujarat government has announced an additional grant of Rs 2 crore per MLA for road development in municipal corporation areas, focusing on repairing monsoon-damaged roads and improving urban mobility.
The grant, totaling Rs 86 crore across 43 MLAs, will fund new road construction, recarpeting, and paver block installations. While the Urban Development Department typically handles such projects, these funds will come from the Roads and Buildings Department, as announced by Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel on Tuesday.
Additionally, the state unveiled the Gujarat State Institution for Transformation (GRIT), modeled after NITI Aayog, to guide the state’s development, particularly its vision document, ‘Roadmap of Developed Gujarat @ 2047’. GRIT will focus on achieving balanced growth across key sectors like industry, agriculture, and exports, with a target of a $5 trillion economy.
GRIT aims to promote good governance, policy consistency, and collaboration with various stakeholders to drive long-term development, emphasizing the adoption of advanced technologies like AI, IoT, and Blockchain for enhanced governance and growth.
