India will never equate perpetrators of terrorism with their victims, External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar said on Saturday during discussions with UK Foreign Secretary David Lammy, who is on a two-day visit to New Delhi.
Amid concerns over some nations equating India and Pakistan following last month’s cross-border clashes, Jaishankar firmly reiterated India’s “zero tolerance” stance on terrorism and urged international partners to respect it. He also thanked the UK for condemning the “barbaric” Pahalgam terror attack and supporting India’s anti-terror efforts.
During their meeting, both sides reviewed the strategic partnership, including the recently concluded India-UK free trade agreement and the double taxation avoidance convention, which Jaishankar described as “milestone” achievements.
The issue of cross-border terrorism from Pakistan was also raised by the Indian side. Notably, Lammy had visited Islamabad last month, where he supported the May 10 understanding between India and Pakistan to halt military escalation.
Lammy’s visit to India marks a continued effort by both nations to deepen ties across defense, trade, and security.
