Six-lane Ganga bridge, new trains flagged off; PM hits out at Opposition, vows action against illegal immigration
Gaya, Bihar | August 22, 2025 — Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday launched and inaugurated development initiatives worth nearly ₹13,000 crore in Bihar, pledging faster industrial growth, improved connectivity, and stronger health infrastructure, while taking aim at the Opposition for neglecting the state.
At a rally in Gaya, Modi accused the RJD and Congress of treating Bihar’s people as a mere “vote bank.” “During their rule, no major projects were completed. Their politics was about filling pockets, not empowering citizens. The NDA is delivering on development,” he said.
The projects include railway upgrades, urban development, energy initiatives, and industrial support. Modi virtually flagged off two new trains — the Amrit Bharat Express between Gaya and Delhi, and the Buddhist Circuit Train between Vaishali and Koderma — aimed at easing travel and promoting tourism.
A key highlight was the inauguration of the Aunta–Simaria six-lane bridge over the Ganga in Begusarai, built at a cost of ₹1,870 crore. The 1.86 km bridge, part of an 8.15 km highway stretch, is expected to cut heavy vehicle detours by more than 100 km, boosting trade across North and South Bihar.
Raising the issue of demographic shifts in border regions, Modi warned against the rising number of illegal immigrants. “We will not allow infiltrators to snatch jobs from Bihar’s youth. Congress and RJD support immigrants for appeasement politics. Soon, a demographic mission will be launched to counter this threat,” he asserted.
Modi also distributed keys to beneficiaries of the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (urban and rural), reinforcing the government’s commitment to affordable housing.
“These projects will strengthen industries, create jobs, and expand healthcare. They mark a new chapter for Bihar’s progress,” the Prime Minister concluded.
