BJP Spokesperson Unveils Report on Alleged Impact of Infiltrators on Delhi
BJP national spokesperson Sambit Patra on Monday accused the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and the Congress of supporting illegal Rohingya and Bangladeshi immigrants for political gain. He made the claims while unveiling a 114-page research report authored by JNU professors Manuradha Chaudhary and Preeti Das, which allegedly highlights the impact of these illegal migrants on Delhi’s infrastructure and economy.
Allegations of Demographic and Economic Impact
Speaking at a press conference, Patra asserted that the influx of Rohingyas and Bangladeshis had significantly altered Delhi’s social and economic fabric. He claimed that illegal immigrants had displaced workers from Purvanchal and other states, particularly in the construction sector.
“The earnings that should have gone to our brothers and sisters from Purvanchal are now being taken by these migrants. There is no documentation for this. It is all happening under the political protection of AAP and the Congress,” Patra said.
Claims of Electoral Manipulation
Patra further alleged that both AAP and Congress were involved in creating fake voter identities for these immigrants to manipulate elections. He described the presence of these illegal settlers as a “serious threat” to Delhi’s future, accusing both parties of facilitating their settlement for political advantage.
The report specifically highlights neighborhoods such as Seelampur, Jamia Nagar, Zakir Nagar, Sultanpuri, Mustafabad, Jafrabad, Dwarka, and Gokulpuri, claiming that illegal migrants have established criminal networks in these areas with the support of brokers, clerics, and informers.
Warning to Voters Ahead of Polls
Patra warned that if the situation continues unchecked, Delhi’s infrastructure and job market will face further strain. He urged voters to recognize the risks posed by illegal immigration when casting their ballots on February 5, calling for a decisive stand against the political forces allegedly enabling it.
“This is about securing a better future for our children. Voters must be aware of what is at stake,” he emphasized.
Linking the Issue to CAA and Delhi Riots
Patra concluded by connecting the controversy to the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA), claiming that AAP and Congress were opposed to the CAA while simultaneously supporting those involved in the 2020 Delhi riots.
As the election date nears, Patra’s remarks are expected to add fuel to the ongoing political battle over illegal immigration and voter demographics in the capital.
