Chandigarh, January 8 – In a recent program at the grain market in Kaithal, Haryana’s Minister of Women and Child Development, Kamlesh Dhanda, announced the distribution of mobile phones to Anganwadi workers, supervisors, and Child Development Project Officers (CDPOs) at an estimated cost of around Rs. 28 crore.
During the event, Minister Kamlesh Dhanda handed over mobile phones to 1270 Anganwadi workers, 49 supervisors, and 7 Women and Child Development Project Officers in the Kaithal district alone. The initiative aims to provide approximately 25,962 Anganwadi workers, 1016 supervisors, and 148 CDPOs across the 22 districts of the state with mobile phones, totaling a cost of Rs. 28 crore. In Kaithal district, 1326 mobile phones were distributed.
Minister Kamlesh Dhanda highlighted the potential benefits of connecting 25,962 Anganwadi centers in the state to solar energy. She also disclosed plans to open 4,000 additional play schools in the future. Emphasizing the importance of mobile phones, the minister stated that they would facilitate better and faster implementation of Anganwadi center activities.
Furthermore, the use of smartphones will enable real-time data entry for beneficiaries under various important schemes, such as ICDS, Pradhan Mantri Matritva Vandana Yojana, Bal Samvardhan Pranali, etc. The portal will streamline tasks related to the opening time of Anganwadi centers, attendance, and the measurement of children’s weight and height.
Minister Kamlesh Dhanda also announced the decision to connect 25,962 Anganwadi centers with solar energy, with the first phase covering 9,500 centers. In response to the needs of working women, the state plans to open 500 new crèches for the babies of working women.
Additionally, Minister Kamlesh Dhanda shared recent announcements by Chief Minister Manohar Lal, including increases in honorariums for experienced Anganwadi workers, improvements in retirement benefits, and uniform allowance.
In summary, the Haryana government’s initiative to provide mobile phones to Anganwadi workers and supervisors is part of a broader effort to modernize and enhance the efficiency of child development programs across the state.
