Amit Shah Unveils ₹1,271 Cr Projects in Uttarakhand, Hails Investment Growth and Infrastructure Push
Dehradun | July 15, 2025 — Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah inaugurated and laid the foundation stone for development projects worth ₹1,271 crore at the Uttarakhand Investment Festival 2025, held in Dehradun on Saturday. The event marked a major milestone in the state’s investment journey, with ₹1 lakh crore worth of investments now operationalised, following the MoUs signed during the 2023 Global Investors Summit.
Addressing the gathering, Mr. Shah praised the Uttarakhand government, led by Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, for successfully translating investment commitments into tangible outcomes. “Uttarakhand received MoUs worth ₹3.56 lakh crore in 2023. Of this, ₹1 lakh crore has already materialised, creating over 81,000 jobs. Ancillary sectors are projected to generate 2.5 lakh more jobs,” he said.
Among the dignitaries present were Assembly Speaker Ritu Khanduri Bhushan, Union Minister of State Ajay Tamta, and Yoga guru Baba Ramdev.
Shah underscored the strategic efforts made by the state administration in balancing industrial expansion with environmental sustainability. “Bringing investment to a hilly, landlocked state is a challenge. Yet, Uttarakhand has shown it can be done — with transparency, vision, and fast-track implementation,” he said.
The Minister cited several major infrastructure initiatives, including the ₹2,700 crore Govind Ghat–Hemkund Sahib ropeway and the ₹4,000 crore Sonprayag–Kedarnath ropeway, both of which are expected to significantly boost religious and eco-tourism in the state.
Highlighting the region’s spiritual identity, he referred to Uttarakhand as “Dev Bhoomi,” home to significant Hindu pilgrimage sites such as Char Dham and Panch Kedar. “No force can obstruct the development of this land of cultural and spiritual confluence,” he said.
Mr. Shah also targeted political opposition, urging all parties to cooperate in the state’s development. “The culture of opposing growth must stop. Development is a shared responsibility,” he remarked.
Touching on the broader policy vision, he asserted that the Modi government had demonstrated that welfare and industrial growth are not mutually exclusive. “From tap water to free rations and Ayushman Bharat coverage, we have ensured that economic progress reaches the last mile,” he said.
Uttarakhand, according to Shah, is being shaped through targeted policy interventions across sectors such as tourism, logistics, AYUSH, and organic farming. He also listed Ayurveda, yoga, natural therapies, and sustainability as central pillars of the state’s economic roadmap.
Comparing financial allocations, he pointed out that while the UPA government provided ₹53,000 crore to Uttarakhand between 2004–2014, the Modi government allocated ₹1.86 lakh crore between 2014–2024. This includes ₹31,000 crore for roads, ₹40,000 crore for railways, and ₹100 crore for airport upgrades.
He concluded by affirming that the state’s development was integral to the national vision for a “Viksit Bharat by 2047.”.
