New Delhi | February 7, 2025 – The Delhi Anti-Corruption Branch (ACB) has served a legal notice to Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) chief Arvind Kejriwal, demanding evidence for his allegations that the BJP attempted to bribe AAP candidates ahead of the Delhi Assembly election results.

The notice, delivered to Kejriwal’s residence at 5, Ferozeshah Road, has heightened political tensions between AAP and the BJP just a day before vote counting begins. AAP has strongly criticized the move, calling it politically motivated.

ACB’s Inquiry Into Bribery Claims

The ACB’s notice refers to Kejriwal’s recent social media post, where he accused the BJP of offering bribes to 16 AAP candidates to switch sides. The notice asks Kejriwal to:

Confirm whether the tweet was posted by him.

Provide details of the alleged bribery attempts.

Reveal the names of the 16 candidates approached.

Disclose phone numbers and other evidence linked to the claims.

It further warns of potential legal action, stating that spreading unverified allegations could create “panic and unrest” in Delhi.

AAP’s Response and Political Fallout

AAP leaders have slammed the notice, alleging it is an attempt to intimidate them before election results.

Sanjeev Nasiar, AAP’s legal cell chief, claimed that the ACB officers initially had no notice and sat outside Kejriwal’s residence for over an hour before serving it. “This is a drama orchestrated by the Lieutenant Governor’s office under BJP pressure,” he said.

AAP MP Sanjay Singh supported the allegations, stating that over 16 AAP candidates were approached and that his party has already revealed a phone number linked to one such attempt. “We are filing a complaint. I challenge the BJP to act against the culprits,” Singh said.

BJP Denies Allegations

The BJP dismissed AAP’s claims as baseless, calling them a distraction from the party’s internal issues. The controversy began after Delhi BJP general secretary Vishnu Mittal submitted a complaint to Lieutenant Governor V.K. Saxena, urging action against AAP for “spreading misinformation.” Following this, Saxena directed the ACB to investigate the matter.

As Delhi awaits the crucial election results, the political storm surrounding these bribery allegations continues to intensify.
