Islamabad: Pakistan’s Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar on Saturday indicated that Islamabad is willing to consider de-escalation measures if India refrains from launching further attacks.
In a statement given to Pakistan’s Geo News, Dar emphasized that the current military response from Pakistan was a reaction to mounting pressure. “Our patience had reached its limit. We were compelled to respond,” he said.
Dar also confirmed that he conveyed this message to U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio during a phone call, following his earlier conversation with Indian officials. “I informed Secretary Rubio that if India chooses to stop here, we will also be open to halting our response,” Dar said, adding a note of caution that any fresh strike from India would be met with retaliation.
The remarks come amid heightened tensions between the two nuclear-armed neighbors. Pakistan has stated it is not seeking escalation but remains prepared to defend itself against any aggression.
This diplomatic outreach follows a series of military exchanges across the border, prompting concern from the international community and calls for restraint.
India has yet to issue an official response to Dar’s statement. Meanwhile, geopolitical observers are closely watching for further developments as both sides weigh their next moves.
